Theodicy
According to David Ray Griffin (God, power and evil) a classical theistic concept of God would fall apart according to the following progressive development:
- God is a perfect reality.
- A perfect reality is an omnipotent being
- An omnipotent being could unilaterally bring about an actual world without any genuine evil.
- A perfect reality is a morally perfect being.
- A morally perfect being would want to bring about an actual world without any genuine evil.
- If there is genuine evil in the world then there is no God.
- There is genuine evil in the world.
- Therefore there is no God.
I look forward to see how he dismantles the argument. I have a sneaky process hunch numbers 2 and 3 will be under considerable attack!
