The vulnerability that results from the intangibility of "not grasping" is a constant battle for the intended contemplative exercise. There is always that mental desire and effort to grasp to get "it" right, to contain "it" when there is no "it" to contain or grasp. The "it" is a mental construct which comes into being when grasped but is no longer a living thing. The upshot is the possession of something conceptual which makes us safe but protected from the realm of potentiality.
The gift or the art of the habit of spontaneity - before the mind can start grasping short circuits this tendency - we are Now already in the process of letting go -the Amen and Yes! operating before the mind can filter and conceptualise what is a living reality...
