"Perfect love casts out fear". The "fear of man brings with it a snare". Divine love is such that we are no longer in fear of failing the expectations (imaginary or real) of those around us. But Kenotic love is not the sort of thing which gives us some kind of elevated protective independence over people either. That would be an inverse kind of fear. We are free of both fears : the fear related to in-timid-ation and the compensatory mechanism of false confidence. Hence the incarnation - God became flesh in order to be totally un-protected and fearless at the same time. A fearless vulnerability. It is a love that transcends something though. A love that transcends the fear of the potential pain that happens when you give your all relationally.
